Make It Right seeks to be the catalyst for the redevelopment of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Determined to create green, affordable housing on a large scale; MIR is building a neighborhood comprised of safe and healthy homes of high quality design while preserving the spirit of the community’s culture. The goal is to accomplish this quickly, so residents can begin returning to their homes as soon as possible.

I just returned from Pearlington Mississippi on a home rebuilding mission trip with our church. While there Pastor Charles Richardson took us on a tour of the 9 th Ward where he grew up. There were three (3) Pitt houses built and one under construction. From the outside, it does not appear that the average person from the 9th Ward who lived in a 50 to $60,000. dollar home, could ever afford to purchase, get insurance or even pay the taxes on a “Make it Right” house. What good are these hugh houses (all 3)doing for the neighborhoods that are still empty. All that is left are wrecks of some homes and mostly the foundations of others. I have pictures from the area on face book from last week there. We spent Thanksgiving there working on homes in Pearlington.
