All of the artists featured on STS9’s “Peaceblaster : The New Orleans Make It Right Remixes”, and even the majority of the behind-the-scenes business services required to put the album together, donated their contributions to the project. 100% of the album’s proceeds will go to the Make It Right Foundation, who has been chosen by the band to be the sole beneficiary of all of STS9’s 2009 charity programs. It is the band’s goal – with the support of their fan community and the involvement of the Make It Right Foundation – to build a home in New Orleans, raising money via the Peaceblaster : The New Orleans Make It Right Remixes album proceeds, a $1 charity donation on every STS9 concert ticket sold during 2009, special STS9 charity raffles, and other initiatives throughout the year still to be announced.

Make It Right is committed to building 150 sustainable, affordable homes in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward, incorporating high-quality design and construction while preserving the spirit of the community’s culture. The Lower 9th Ward was one of the most devastated areas of New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina. Make It Right hopes that this project will be a catalyst for recovery and redevelopment throughout the Lower 9th Ward and across the city of New Orleans.

Collective Conscious is a group of artists working together to create art that is inspired by the music of STS9. The focus of our raffle’s is always a 3-4ft sized canvas that is mailed from one artist to the next and each artist will work off of the previous one until all of our efforts have been combined in a visually balanced light. Each painting is raffled off at various STS9 shows; tickets are $5 and Collective Conscious donates 100% of the makings from raffles directly to Conscious Alliance. The most recent CC piece was raffled off at the March 19th-21st shows where we raised almost $500 for these 3 nights in the intimately small Georgia Theatre.

Make It Right seeks to be the catalyst for the redevelopment of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Determined to create green, affordable housing on a large scale; MIR is building a neighborhood comprised of safe and healthy homes of high quality design while preserving the spirit of the community’s culture. The goal is to accomplish this quickly, so residents can begin returning to their homes as soon as possible.
The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors. More than 30,000 troops have come home from their service in Iraq & Afghanistan wounded in body, mind & spirit. They need a place of healing, and that’s what the Wounded Warrior Project is all about. The WWP aims to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other through unique, direct programs and services.
STS9 is pleased to support the Yellow Ribbon Fund, which helps to welcome injured service members home. Every day the Yellow Ribbon Fund hears of service members and their families who can use assistance. They offer free car rentals, cab vouchers, hotel rooms, apartments, job mentoring and internship programs and free tickets to cultural and sporting events. The goal is to make soldier’s lives easier during difficult and stressful circumstances.
We will be working with the non-partisan organization HeadCount over the next year to register voters and encourage political participation among people of all ages. To volunteer for HeadCount at concerts, or to register to vote, visit www.headcount.org HeadCount has set a goal of registering 200,000 new voters in 2008, ensuring that our fans are well represented at the polls. HeadCount is a non-partisan organization devoted to using the multi-faceted power of music to enable voter registration and participation in democracy. The core belief behind HeadCount is that the live music community is a large, vibrant audience that has the potential to be politically influential if properly represented at the polls. HeadCount uses the assets of the music industry and the incredible influence artists have over their fans to mobilize this audience into action. Stretching beyond just registering voters, HeadCount also aims to become “the community organizing arm of the live music scene,” giving every socially conscious music fan an avenue toward activism.
The upcoming election cycle will see HeadCount register 100,000 to 200,000 voters, targeting young concert goers at America’s largest live music events. The activity will include fielding 50 or more regional voter registration teams while also sending street teams on the road with up to a dozen major acts. This will be supported by an aggressive multi-media strategy and artist-based communications that will profoundly touch millions of young people with the “vote” message. Meanwhile, thousands of young people will gain first-hand community organizing experience as volunteers, fulfilling another of HeadCount’s core objectives – “training the activists of tomorrow.”
Rock Against Cancer works diligently to create greater public awareness of childhood cancers. Women’s Crisis Support ~ Defensa de Mujeres (WCS ~ DDM) was founded in 1977 with the mission of ending the cycle of violence for the women and children of Santa Cruz County with a special commitment to Latinas and other underserved populations. WCS ~ DDM has since become one of the primary domestic violence service providers in the County. WCS~DdM organizes and participates in numerous yearly activities that serve to promote awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault, raise funds to continue providing much needed services to the community, and connect their community with national efforts to end domestic violence and sexual assault. They have been providing domestic violence and sexual assault related services in Santa Cruz County for 30 years. For several years, sts9 and Conscious Alliance have teamed up to conduct food drives at almost every show. The reminder “10 cans=free poster” should be common knowledge among sts9 fans by now, but if you didn’t know, 10 cans of preferably organic food will get you a free, limited edition poster. You can also donate $10 for the poster, but we always prefer food. This past spring tour, conscious alliance and sts9 fans were able to gather 3000 pounds of food and $3000 dollars. Past accomplishments include $17,000 rasied at a single Katrina benefit concert, supplying several weeks of fresh vegetables to Katrina victims. At this summer’s Re:generation festival, sts9 fans brought was equivalent to 1lb of food per person to the event. Keep up the good work, and don’t forget your cans!
Mariposa’s Art is an innovative non-profit organization that provides after-school art and music programs, community workshops, and mural painting programs that focus on developing leadership skills and addressing key health issues. Mariposa’s Art was founded in July of 1998 to provide after-school art and music programs to students in need of healthy alternatives to gangs, drugs, and other high-risk behaviors. Mariposa’s Art has served over 3,300 at-risk youth primarily in East San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Watsonville, California. STS9 donates a portion of each ticket sale to assist Mariposa’s Art, the most recent focus being on the ‘Guitar Teach’ program. In this program, high school guitar players engage in an intensive teacher training and then travel to elementary and middle schools and teach guitar to students after-school This opportunity provides high school youth not only the pride and excitement of a paid job, but also a window into the experience of teaching as a career. Elementary and middle school students are delighted to have high school role models and to have the opportunity to learn how to play the guitar. A portion of each sts9 ticket sale enables all participating students are able to earn their own guitar through this program. When the students commit to practicing three times a week and participating in the performances at the end of each semester, they will earn a guitar of their own. 
High school students receive minimum wage pay for their internship, earn five elective credits, and provide service to elementary and middle school sites that are sorely lacking in music programs. For the first six weeks of the program, the high school students engage in teacher training and curriculum development. For the remaining twelve weeks of the program, students travel to the elementary school sites and teach rhythm games, music theory, and guitar. mariposasart.org
On August 21, 2005 Bob Moog passed away, leaving a legacy of innovation and countless contributions to the world of music. In his wake, the Bob Moog Memorial Foundation for Electronic Music has been created. The main objectives of the foundation are: three endowed scholarships, a memorial museum, event sponsorships and an outreach program for disadvantaged children. STS9 contributed $1 of each asheville ticket to the bob moog foundation, recognizing the need to not only keep Bob’s legacy alive, but to pass it down to younger generations. There are frequent moog clinics in asheville, and their modest factory is located there as well. These inspiring students successfully built and raced a solar race car from Texas to New York, completing the Dell-Winston School Solar Race Car Challenge. The project is ongoing, as Allan has brought solar power projects into the curriculum at his high school.

Global Education Fund (GEF) is a nonprofit organization working to see that books get into the hands of some of the most vulnerable children in the world. Founded in 1998 by anthropologist Eliza Woloson, Global Education Fund listens to the educational needs of the orphanage community first and foremost. As a result, in addition to filling libraries in orphanages with books, Global Education Fund has sent interns to communities with high illiteracy rates, implemented formalized storytelling and reading groups and physically built libraries. Global Education Fund has sent aid to many organizations around the world.
J Garcia began performance painting with STS9 in 1999. Since then, STS9 has shared the stage with him across the United States, Europe and Japan. Through the use of an essential repertoire of symbols and an diffused hierarchy of site specific color, he has established a distinctive painting style and a unique ability to capture the moment. Performance painting is the execution of spontaneous exhibition of skill in the application of color to a surface in direct congruence with the sound and energy of the collective experience performed live during an event. Garcia has painted with a variety of multiple bands and at NFL games in front of audiences ranging from 500 to 90,000 people. He has also contributed immensely to our community by donating his art and profits made from sales of his art. Garcia’s art has raised over 30,000 pounds of food for Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and local food banks through The Conscious Alliance Food Drives, payed for six teachers salaries in musical programs in Gugarat, India through Ahimsa Benefits, raised awareness and cultural education via The Smithsonian Sikh Gallery and Sikh Heritage Foundation, enriched the lives of inner city youth through mural programs at Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center of San Francisco, raised funding for the research of psychotropic medicine by MAPS, been used for banners in Rainforest Action Network activist demonstrations and contributed towards the building of a music and creative writing school in Johannesburg, South Africa through a Playing For Change Benefit. Anthony Ward is the floral genius responsible for most of the arrangements seen at sts9 concerts. Although Kris D works in several different stylistic variations, the common thread through his work is rooted in geometry. The artist arranges novel forms with strategic color to create compositions that challenge the parameters of the viewer’s perception.When Kris D is not in his studio, you will most likely find him touring with bands doing live painting. The artist’s live paintings begins with a geometrical background that he responds to in an improvisational manner. Through the course of the show the painting captures specific moments in time using the energy of the musicians as well as the audience. Kris D started painting with STS9 in 2000. He has since toured extensively with the band throughout the US and Japan.
